Request for ECTS validation study

FEEDUC

Apply for ECTS equivalence

If you go to study in Spain during your university studies, the application of the Bologna agreements can allow you to have your level of study recognized and validated through the European Credits Transfer System -
(ECTS: European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System), which was developed to make studies easier to understand within the member countries of the European Union.

The principle of ECTS recognition is as follows:

  • It is provided by the application of the European Credit Transfer System, otherwise known as ECTS.
  • Spanish higher education institutions are subject to the rules and quotas established by the autonomous community in which they teach.
  • Higher education institutions are not obliged to practice ECTS recognition.
  • Higher education institutions are autonomous in their admission decisions, whether for students from different educational systems (e.g. France and Spain) or within the same educational system (e.g. from one Spanish university to another).
  • Only a subject whose content is at least 80% identical in the two study plans (the one you are leaving and the one you are applying to join) can be recognized. It is not because you have obtained an average grade, for example in psychology, in a French program that you will have validated the subject called "psychology" in a Spanish program. The knowledge acquired must be similar.
  • To be taken into account, a transfer must recognize at least 30 ECTS.
  • You will have to provide official documents from your home university. If you do not obtain them, your ECTS validation will not be validated by the Spanish state. You will STILL be able to provide them in FRENCH for prior study at the university you wish to attend.
  • Once your request for equivalency has been accepted, you will ALWAYS have to provide these official documents translated by sworn translators. Be sure to ask for a quote before committing to this method of access, as a sworn translation can be expensive.
